Oil Dipstick length discrepancy
confused:
Hello
I own a 2001 Audi A4 1.8 turbo. Recently my oil dip stick broke so I ordered a new one from an authorized Audi dealership. Upon receiving the new oil dip stick, I compared it to the original oil dip stick that came with the car, and the new dip stick was approximately 1 inch shorter. I have provided a photo so you can see the difference between the two. Also, please keep in mind that the funnel where the dip stick goes into is the same length, because I just recently replaced it. My concern is that if I use the new oil dip stick, I will be adding more oil to the engine. I have contacted the dealership, and I have contacted Audi tech support, and no one can give me a definitive response on why the new oil dip stick is an inch shorter. This has been an open topic for about 3 weeks with Audi Tech and it has become very frustrating that an explanation cannot be provided. Please note that the Audi dealership stated that their system indicates that the 2001 1.8 turbo takes part number 06B 115 611(C) (new dip stick which is still an inch shorter), but also has the original part number 06B 115 611(R) (which is the original part number, but the length of the dip stick is still an inch shorter than what came with the car upon purchase). Does anyone have an answer that would explain this? Or has anyone encountered the same issue?
attached is photo which clearly shows the difference in length of the old 06B 115 611(R) vs. new 06B 115 611(C) oil dip stick.
