Hey guys!

Its been a while since I posted a stupid question, so I figure I'd give it a go (lol). I'm collecting parts and tools to do my TB. So far I've got the accessory belt tensioner/pulley, the tool kit is on the way, and I was in the process of ordering the TB kit (from blauparts with the pulleys and seals and crap). Well the kit from blauparts includes a new accessory belt, but it lists two possible belt lengths for the 12v. 1872mm and 1885mm. Logic would suggest that the difference in length would be caused by the lack of (or addition of) an AC compressor or some such thing. Is that true?

Anyway, I've searched this forum and vortex, and even resorted to google, but I'm still stumped. Blauparts says the length is printed on the belt, but the printing is worn off my belt. Also checked the owner's manual, which says "accessory belt service should be performed by a qualified Audi technician" i say! Can anyone shed some light?

I wondered about that too. Mines got an NAPA 25-060739 belt on it now which the specs for is: Imperial Length:74.531" (1893mm)
Top Width:.807" (20mm)
# of Ribs:6
Angle Degree:40 Degrees

So I wonder what I ask for? LOL!!!

Yeah i dunno. The closest thing i could find to an answer was on Autozone's website. The belt they recommend for my car is 73.5in (1867mm) which is shorter than both belts from blauparts, but fairly close to the shorter one, but also different from the one you mentioned^. Based on that I would buy the shorter one, but who knows if Autozone knows anything about Audi's anyway lol. I think I'm gonna call blauparts customer support tomorrow and see if they can help? I'm so confused!

Success! I called blauparts customer support and have finally found an answer. The kit they sell for the 12v is for both model years 96 and 97. As it turns out, the belt on the 96 12v is 1872mm, and the belt on the 97 12v is 1885mm. Hopefully this will be useful to someone else... blauparts customer support FTW!
