oil light on but I just added a qt

Default oil light on but I just added a qt

my 2009 A4 had the add 1 qt of oil light come on. So i did so, but the light stays on. there is no leak. What do i do. Add more?

Common problem is the hood switch goes bad so the vehicle system does not see the hood was open. Then vehicle system will not recheck the oil level.

I agree with the hood switch thing. The car needs to "see" the hood open for a certain amount of time (a minute,,,,,I think it was) then closed and the engine off for 10 minutes before it will take another reading.

Turn the key on and open the hood. Now, check the center display to see if it shows the hood is open or not. Easy way to check the switch operation.

I did as you said and the oil warning disappeared. Thank you. However, when i check the reading on the dashboard it says something like no oil data available. Any thoughts?

Make sure vehicle is operating temperature first then turn off engine and wait for around 5-10 minutes then recheck with your MMI system for oil level.
