Oil Pressure
I have a 98 A4, 2.8 5 spd, 82000 miles. Today I accererated to approx 80mph in 4th gear and my oil light came on. I came to a stop and checked the oil which was OK. The light did not come on when I restarted and I drove home. This has never happened before.
Thoughts??
Thanks,

Not to be the guy who looks at the glass half empty, but it could be a clogged pickup screen. Some engines you can replace the pickup only, others (like mine ATW) you have to do the whole pump assembly. Probably not a bad idea, but the pump is a couple hundred, the pickup alone os like forty. If it happens again, drain your oil, replace with normal oil EXCEPT replace some oil with a.5 quarts of automatic tranny fluid. Drive for about 100 miles, drain it and change the filter. Refill, same way, 1.5 quarts ATF and the rest oil. Run for another 200, or until you get the oil light if the oil light comes first, Drain it, pull the pan, replace the pickup screen, or pump assembly if you have my engine. I did this at 100k aand no lifter noise, no oil lihts, perfect. Depening on model (mostly 1.8t's) Audi has been reimbursing us for repairs. I got a check for about 1200 myself. Searh "oil sump screen" and you'll see my saga. PM me if you wan ome more details.
