Default Fuel Pressure Regulator/lack of & fuel pressure

So since our B6's don't utilize a "standard" FPR, instead they use that ball spring/check valve deal in the filter, is there any simple way of upping fuel pressure in our cars? Does anyone make some sort of adapters for the filter so I might be able to throw an adjustable FPR in there? I need to bump up the pressure on my little project here and right now I'm trying to hold off on getting too involved.

Thanks

Easiest way would be a universal filter and a higher flow fuel pump.

What I'm trying to do is temporarily avoid doing that at this moment. If anything I'd like to not cut into the factory lines, this is where a fuel line adapter would come in handy. That way I could throw in an aftermarket filter & regulator.
