I just changed out my dash cluster on my 96 A4 because my old one was missing a ton of lights and just about stopped working all together. Whe I put the new cluster in I noticed that everything now working including the dinging sounds... but when I hold it at about 2300 RPM the Oil Pressure Light goes on and stays on. I checked the oil level and it is only about 1/2 quart low.

What would cause this? How do I fix it?

 

faulty sender unit or it might need an oil and filter change

 

Changed oil and filter today and ran a oil flush cleaner threw it also. Light still comes on.

 

well then your oil pressure is low.... sorry if that sounds condisending but it seems rather obvious heh. Anyways, could be a clog somewhere, or your oil pump, or a bad sensor...

 

Im concerned about low oil pressure. Have the car taken in to check the oil pressure before your engine is toast.

 

maybe its been low for a while, and the old cluster just wasn't showing you.

You may have sludge. Do you use synthetic oil?

 

I did a full synthetic Mobil 1 oil change on it yesterday with a Mobil 1 Oil filter and also ran a engine flush through it before I did the oil change. Light still comes on and stays on when driving... sit at a light and it goes off... once I get to 1800 rpm then it goes on again. The light from the old cluster was taken out. Next week I am going to be getting a Oil Pressure gauge and a air/fuel gauge for my A-Pillar
