Did you let the car warm up, first?
You have climate control man... just set the temperature you want it at... and drive. It'll heat up when it can! It won't blow air, until the car is up to temperature.

Do i need the compressor on ? (that little snowflake looking button?)

Should i just press 'auto' then change the temp to 80 or whatever?

Yeah man, put it on auto, and let it do it's thing... the snowflake is A/C... so no, you obviously don't need the a/c on. Hit auto, set the temp to where you want it, and drive! Let us know how it works out :P

or i think you can press the panel, up, or down arrow (depending on where you want the air going) and set the temp, i usually just do it manual liek that, are your little climate lights out by any chance, cuz it says temp and fan power..... mine are starting to get flashy

i'm in the same boat as you, i dont know about these, but in a lot of cars the heat wont work if the thermostat is shot... i also have a 97 and even when i bring the oil temp up it doesnt blow heat.

Well if coolant temp hits normal, then you're good to go...

you dont need it to be at 80. pushing auto and setting the temp is the same as setting the thermastat in your house. If its cold it will blow warm air and maintain 72 degrees and if its hot it will blow cool air or cold air depnding on how hot it is. My car doesnt wait to be up to temp to blow air. Typically on a really cold day it will blow so little you cant really feel it but after like 2 mins it will start blowing warm air even though the engine is still cold. I dont know for sure how they designed it but the car interrior warms up very quickly, quicker then any other car I have ever had. but the car barley gets up to temp on my ride to work/school. over all a 5 out of 5 for the audi climate control.
