Default ok pinpointed the problem. still need help/suggestions..brake light issue

*EDIT*

Just took the car out for a late night spin... i've been puzzled by the headlight/tail light and brake light malfunction warnings from my in-dash readout..

as i was driving around in the dark... i noticed that when my lights are on .. the rear brake light in the rear window stays light... it gets brighter when i press my brakes but stays on with the lights...

anytime my lights are on and im NOT PRESSING THE BRAKE... i get a steady yellow "brake light" warning... when i APPLY THE BRAKES... the warning goes away .. but as soon as i am off the brakes i get the warning again..

ok.. part 2...

during the day when the lights are off.. i get a headlight / tail light malfunction warning whenever i APPLY THE BRAKES.. as soon as i LET OFF THE BRAKES... the light goes away .. ??

is this a bad brake sensor? bad lighting wire?

since it revolves the application of the brake... im thinking brake pedal sensor? if there is such a thing..

can anyone help me with this? i'd love to figure it out myself without taking it to the dealership

thanks in advance

-kris

i thought of that.. but im not getting a "brake" malfunction but instead "brake light" .. i guess its possible its throwing the wrong "malfunction" code [&o]

is there anyway to turn the beeping off until i can get the brakes checked out?

just try turning the center display off, or if you have a vag you can do it for sure

one thing you have missed "the middle break light should only be on when the breaks are applied" you say its on all the time and gets brighter when you press the peddle, you either have a bad ground to that center break light or its wired wrong

Yours stay on, mine wont come on. Mine works sometimes, sometimes it doesnt. I cant gat a VAG yet, so the only way to drown out the annoying beep, is turn up the Bose

well personally in both cars I suggest checking the ground wire to the light
