Hey guys, this is going to be lame but I've searched high and low for this..
Im missing one of my manuals..
Anyway, recently when I start my car (2002 AUDI a41.8t) It makes a very loud vacuum noise.. Also on my onboard before I actually crank the car but just turn the key once in the far top left corner of the LED screen it shows like.. a vacuum simliar looking sign with like a bolt of lighthing going through it and tells me to check.. If you guys could tell me what this is if you know or take a look in your manuals this would be great.

What does it mean though? I just got my car back from GELL MOTORS and they said my instrumental was faulty but the only thing that didn't work was the MPG display and it wouldn't be worth the money to replace. Also, what can explain the loud vacuum noise everytime I start the car up? I meanthe noise, the new CEL light showing up "Engine block with lightning bolt through it" What could explain this?

the large vacuum noise is probably a vacuum leak/ pipe off ( have some one start it for you while you inspect under the hood ) you might just easily find the problem,
CEL means check engine light and it comes on when a fault is encountered by the computer and it needs diagnostic equipment to check it and clear it

But then I turn the car off and back on and it's not there? Possibly because of the cold weather? It's a cold start. Only does it for the first start of the day.

hmm interesting but codes will be stored even if the CEL goes off ( called soft codes ) so still worth having it scanned because it could lead to some thing bigger later

You can go to an autozone and they'll do it for free. It will only take 5 mins.

OK so im looking directly at the car.. the far bottom left of the bumper.. When I crank the car and hear the noise.. it's blwoing a shitload of air out of the section.. so I looked in there.. there appears to be some sort of house dangling.. and a hole. Any ideas?
