Gah, I take a step back and look at my car.

96 Audi A4 2.8
Dark Blue , excellent condition
paid $4,500 for it
Had to get repairs so it cost about $6000 after that
DOES NOT HAVE A WORKING HEATER CORE OR AIR CONDITIONING
and on top of that....180K miles....

I was looking in the classifieds and I'm seeing nice Audi's for about $5000, and they've got 1/2 the miles or less...
I don't know...I want a manual, maybe something nice,I love my car but do I need to toss it before it becomes a lemon?

BUT i've also heard that 2.8's last forever and as long as I take care of maintanance...i should be fine...HELP...advice..

thats what i was looking to hear. im looking at getting a 99-00 2.8. and im a maintanance freak so i won't have a problem.

 

See if you can't find a 2000-2001 B5 1.8t, keep what you have for your daily driver and mod the 1.8t, this way- when/if the 2.8 dies you'll have enough time to get your 1.8 to be a sturdy reliable car with mods. I'm sure the 2.8/3.0's are a lot of fun but there's just something about hearing that turbo spool, just brings a smile to your face...

This is of course only what I'd do, just a suggestion. Oh and if you do get a 1.8, go cloth, I can't tell you how happy I am with Audi's cloth interrior.

 

well the leatherette in the 1.8T's was a no charge option... this fact sort of hints at the quality of both materials.
