Default which one

So here goes....I was looking at used A4 quatros in my area and I saw something interesting. Lots of 2.0T and many 1.8T but not very many 3.0 non T.
Does that mean that the 3.0 is a better car and people who own them just dont sell them??

OR were there only a small number made? If you were in the market to buy a less than $5000 A4 which model would you go for and why?

I would go with one of the turbo 4 cylinders. The 3.0 isn't the greatest engine Audi ever built to be honest. When I was an Audi tech, we called them, semi-jokingly, "job security". Then again, that's just my opinion from a tech's point of view....................

I will take that into account. Now that I have a former tech on the "line" which Audi motor did you see the least often and or which one had the cheapest repair bills. I know a really good motor could still require very frequent but less expensive repairs while others may have less frequent but much more costly ones.

The 1.8T lived from '97 to 2005, the 2.0T lives still since 2005.5. The 3.0 lived from 2002-2005ish I think. That's why you don't find too many. I'm not a tech or Audi mechanic, but I've heard the 3.0 was a disaster.

The 1.8T though, she is a beautiful workhorse that can run forever with the right maintenance.
