yea me too, and it only seems to happen like every other night, then in the morning it will be perfectly fine, i recently had a stereo install but i dont think that there would be any correlation between the two

 

if your battery was disconnected for the stereo install you have to do a throtle body adaptation when its reconnected or you might have problems...

 

battery wasn't ever disconnected..

 

maybee i will disconnect it and try resetting everything

 

The battery should have been disconnected if you had a head unit or amp installed. If not, Id find another place to do electrical work on your car.

 

so should i try re-setting it?, only thing is i am not going to know if this fixes it, cause the problem doesn't happen very often.. one of my friends who is a mechanic said it could possible be the fuel pressure regulator

 

This sounds like a resonable troubleshooting step.

Make sure you have the radio code. It takes like 40 miles for ecu to completely reset.

Try the TBA after doing so as well.

can some one give me the proper steps for the TBA on a 96 with a 2.8, ive searched and only found instructions for newer non b5 cars.

 

still having problem, i really dont wanna take the car in for service. Im sure its probally something simple. Anyone give me a rough guess of how much it would cost just to have audi figure out whats wrong, and i fix it myself
