Default Opinions Please!!!

So I think I have decided to get a Valentine V1! I have been looking for a radar detector for a while now and I am frustrated with people saying dont get this get that, so I would like an opinion from someone that has one or knows someone that has one and what should I go with? I have also built a home made licence plate deflector so when an intense light hits the back of my car (such as a flash from a camera) that the deflector activates and sends a high intesity flash which makes my plate look blank on any picture! And I was also wondering if any of you guys are interested in this product. I would only sell it to people from here and it would take a week or two to build because of parts and shipping and etc. any people interested?

I read somewhere that the Valentine doesn't include POP mode which is the new technology that police use.... I have had 2 escort passport 8500 X50's one blue one red, and would have to say get it, b/c i have had no tickets since I purchased each... ok well I did get one, but that was for front tinted windows... It's really up to you, different radars work for different people, but I am happy with my escort and have full confidence whenever I go out...

Matt

P.S the blue escorts are 30 bucks more than the red, plus the red matches our cars, so I would go red, unless you change your interior backlights.

I read the same thing Matt, but then I checked out the website and some other tests and things and it says that it does. So I really dont know who to belive anymore the reason I like the v1 is because of the 360 degree protection. Especially at night with tinted windows you can barelly see anything.

+1 for the Passport 8500. I have had mine for a few years now, and it works great for most radar. If you are looking for laser protection/alert, you are SOL. There's no radar/laser detectors that will save you from laser. If you really wan't protection, make sure it is legal and buy a laser jammer.

most radars have 360* protection, all I can tell you is from my experience, and I drive crazy when I can (yes I play it safe, unless its empty on the roads)... but my advice you pay for what you get, go to various review websites and read up on different radars, but ultimately when you pay over 300 for a radar, your getting what you paid for... also yes even though it is 300+ it pays for itself after the first few beeps... just my .02 but do the research... I would suggest looking at the new Escort Passport 9500i or something, its amazing, go to escorts site http://www.escortradar.com/and read up, I would love to get it but now im workin on my a4 so i dont have the funds...

Thanks Matt I went to the store befor you posted this and I looked around and they had the 9500i listed for $675CDN and then I talked to the guy and showed him the actuall website where its going for $449USD and he said they would mach the price because it doesent say its an american website (otherwise they usually dont) and when it got down to things I got the 9500i for $450 with everything so I am quite happy about it tested it out didnt catch much except when I go by bigger stores it tends to find a strong signal on the K band??? maybe the metal detectors???

i have a cobra 99xx series. i luv it. has so many functions and even color lol. it's got 12band radar detection, laser detection, POP, VG, VG2, and emergency vehicle warning. and yes it also has 360° protection. one time a cop was behind me and i had to turn the thing off cuz it was going absurdly nuts

Yeah that usually happens, but congrats on the buy... with that thing it'll memorize where cops usually are... but just remember no radar is PERFECT and there is still the risk of you getting caught, but its extremely minimal (just dont speed by cops basically).

I know I tend to do just about 30km/h over sometimes and then there is the ocasional 245km/h rush that I get so its only for those times when I can acctually rip it and beat a cls amg 500 that I proudly smile as I speed away from a really expensive car. but other than that its just cool and casual. Thanks guys I really love the thing I had my heart set on the V1 but the passport is a better way to go especially with a gps option where you can mark red light cameras speed traps etc.
