I read somewhere that the Valentine doesn't include POP mode which is the new technology that police use.... I have had 2 escort passport 8500 X50's one blue one red, and would have to say get it, b/c i have had no tickets since I purchased each... ok well I did get one, but that was for front tinted windows... It's really up to you, different radars work for different people, but I am happy with my escort and have full confidence whenever I go out...

Matt

P.S the blue escorts are 30 bucks more than the red, plus the red matches our cars, so I would go red, unless you change your interior backlights.
everytime my friends radar has a POP alert its a flase alarm or securtiy system from a store like publix.

i used to have a v1 and loved it. got me out of quite a few huge tickets, when i get some extra money im definitely buying another one

The bad thing is many police departments use Lidar, which the nice 300+ radar/laser detectors pick up, but only when it is too late. The only hope of forewarning for laser is if it happens to bounce off a near by car.......

escort 8500 x50 ftw. I'm amazed by its performance it has great distance and lots of features, however I can't compare it to any others because it's the first high-end one i've owned

the red looks great with the backlit dash too

+1, I have had my 8500 for a few years and it has been good. but it sucks now that many police officers now use laser on thehighway and major streets.......... unfortunatly the passport and any other high end detector can only alert you to being caught by laser. But I must say that for any radar locally, the 8500 does its job.

Alright sooooooo, I got the Passport 9500i and tested yesterday I really like it so far. Some things I dont like though is the spring power cord having to be pluged in by our e-brake which sucks. So I am going to order a hard wire kit from passport. And another thing that I really dont like is that right now I tend to go a bit faster, I think it just gives you a bit more "*****" I guess is the right way of putting it. I slow down but still it makes me think I got the control until I get busted. I know that this is a total wrong way of thinking but it happens. So I really dont know if I want to keep it!
