Default Opinions - what works?

Hello all,

I started comming here a couple weeks ago as I was considering buying a '99 A4 1.8TQM. I have since purchased the car and I'm fired up about begining my changes. The problem I am finding is getting the information I'm looking for. I belong to other forums for other vehicle types and it seems much more difficult to find specific information here. Its like everyone is trying to keep their specifics a secret. I'd like to see an attempt made at creating a "sticky" (or several) post that remains at the top. In this thread the community could post descriptions of their mods with pics (when necessary) so that when others see something they like they can duplicate it easily. Ever notice how someone will post saying "I put new springs and shocks on, here are some pics" - there is no part numbers, name of supplier, specifics about the results or driving impressions? If this is all you will post then who really cares about your new springs and shocks, its a worthless thread. And it happens here all the time.

Possible threads:
Suspension - what I did and why I like it
Headlights - Best proformance best look
Body Kits - Heres what I like and why
Engine mods - the do's and the don'ts
Drivetrain - LSD and brakes
Interior - Sound and video
Buying an A4 - what you should know

Obviously the common sense rules should apply to these thread, like don't tell anyone your location and your idenity and all that stuff.

Anyone feel like this would be a good idea?

Thanks for reading and if you agree at all let the mods know.

Yeah but being a member who's on here a lot... I know that each of those things you're talking about have been posted several times.

When i did my suspension thread, I know I mentioned part #'s.

Hi welcome to the forum.

If you go to the main forum page, there are entire forums dedicated to suspension mods, engine mods, intake mods, etc.

Many people just post here because it is the busiest forum.

headshok2002,

Even though I have only been here a short time, I am not new to the internet or forums. Your post that I have read have been very informative. But if I tried a search for "A4 suspension" how many pages would I have to look through before I found your orginal post? Try it and see how many threads you look through berfore you find some valuable information. Same goes for each of those subjects. The threads I suggested would not be a place to debate about how good something is or isn't. Simply post of your own experience with details and some pics. It works really well in other forums to reduce the repitious post that only clutter up the forum and reduces the search function. I'm just trying to make some suggestion to help the community of this forum, thats all. I don't expect the world to change just for me. Thanks for the input though... I do value your experience too.

My point exactly... and these threads would be specific to our platform.. the A4. Ever notice there are more questions posted than answers and you have to sift through pages upon pages before you find a scrap of info. The "sticky" as I call it would not be a place to post questions... just a place to see what others have done and their take on their mods. I looked at the suspension forum...this thread was good, quater of the page down but still was not specific enough:
