Default Ordered a splitter but i am confused

Alright so I have a 99 A4 1.8t. I ordered a Forge splitter valve a couple days ago and I'm waiting for it to get here.

I looked under my car and i can see my diverter valve right there next to the radiator on the passenger side. It has a hose coming from the turbo going into the bottom and a tube going to the intercooler line sticking out of the side, as well as the vacuum line going to the intake manifold.

So i'm planning on mounting the splitter as instructed with the turbo line going into the bottom and the intercooler hose sticking from the side next to the nozzle. The instructions say the valve is supposed to be reversed, but isn't this the same configuration as the stock valve? Maybe i am confused about the turbo system. The pressure is coming into the valve from the turbo hose, right? or maybe not.

Also, in the pdf file Forge has on their website.. It looks like they have the valve mounted in place of the pressure regulator valve on the turbo inlet hose coming out of the airbox? What's up with that? http://www.forgemotorsport.com/media/USASPLTR.pdf

I'm assuming the Forge valve is going in place of the "bypass valve" in this picture? with the side hose going to the intercooler like that?

Sorry if this is a dumb question but i am having a hard time getting it.

Thanks for your help, i know you guys know a lot more about this stuff than i do

the stock style has the bottom heading to the intake. If you install the valve that way, it will leak at idle which isnt good.

oh ok... so the long hose going from the turbo to the bottom of the intercooler is actually where the pressure is entering the valve? And the skinny tube going back to the turbo is where the recirculated air is going after exiting the dv.
