Ouestion for all u suspensaion guys
Cani use the ecs coilover kit on my stock (the sport) suspension? ECS coilover kit . Is there any issues with doing this? Will it also give me better handling like a normal lower or coilover kit would?
Those looks awsome, ive never seen coilovers that didnt at least have springs on them. But right below the link to order them it says that you need to use bilstein shocks, and some type of aftermarket spring, although i don't see why you couldnt use stock springs. But even if you were somehow able to fit that on your stock shock, it wouldnt do anything for stiffness or increased performance, it simply gives you the ability to adjust your ride height.
wouldnt it give me a lower center of gravity too. I would have my guy do this b/c i would assume it needs some fab since its not for stock suspension.
Its true that your center of gravity will be lower, but you will not be reducing body roll, or increasing stiffness. In fact I would be carefull lowering the car too far with stock suspension because ussually when you lower a car you are using stiffer springs and harder dampening, personally i would be afraid of bottoming out, and this also might blow your shocks as they are made for use with the stock shocks only. I would say if all you want to do is lower your car for little or no money, you should just cut the springs, it would be effectively doing the same thing as these coilovers, except you better be saving money for replacment shocks/springs in the mean time. If you have seen pictures of cut springs after the car is riding on them for a while you will know what i mean.
did you just say cut the springs? oh god...
apg disregard any advice by hachi. cutting your springs is the biggest mistake you will make. plus it has rice written all over it- its embarrassing that an audi driver suggested this.
and wtf are you talking about when you say cutting springs is effectively doing the same thing as coilovers. i hope to god that you are joking.

no no listen, if you cant tell from my name, i come from japanese cars, and I know I have a problem so you guys gotta help me on that. But here is what i mean, all the coilovers are gonna do is lower the car, becuase these dont come with any shocks or spring, so therefore, just cut the springs so you can have it dropped a little bit, because i assume he is going for the looks of it, and in the mean time just save up for a nice spring/shock combo or full coilovers to replace them. I would never recomend staying on cut springs for any longer than necesary, but i mean, if all hes gonna do is trash them afterwards, who cares if they are screwed up. And how is that rice? Its not like you can tell the difference between cut springs and drop/performance springs unless you are driving or you actually look inside the fender. see what i mean? But I do realize that cutting the springs is a ricey thing to do.

i assume he is going for the looks of it.
Assuming is bad.

Not only is it dangerous to roll on potentially shot shocks, why trash them when he can wait it out and save his stockies.
And how is that rice? Its not like you can tell the difference between cut springs and drop/performance springs unless you are driving or you actually look inside the fender. see what i mean? But I do realize that cutting the springs is a ricey thing to do.
I smell contradiction.

Cutting your springs is the dumbest ******* thing you could ever do... had some kid in my highschool do that... BOTTOMED OUT ON A ******* SPEED BUMP!!!
That **** may have worked on an AE86 but not here... we drive ******* beasts from the East, baby!!

Ok miked, i did contradict myself there, but still, if he cuts one loop off his springs does he have any more chance of bottoming out then if he puts on these coilovers and lowers his car down? And will it be hurting anything if he throws the old ones out anyway? I am definatly willing to admit that I am wrong, and I dont want you guys to be pissed at me my first night here too. But i have to say, for how strongly you guys disagree with me, you have said it respectfully, and without flaming, and I am very glad that I am joining such a nice community, even if you dont want some dumb ricers oppinion here
But please if not for me for the guy whoe started the thread, can anyone tell him how well this will work or if it is even possible?
