Default Overheating 2.8, input needed...

I just replaced the timing belt, water pump, thermostat, added new coolant(G12), bled the system... started her up and she purred like a kitten. Lookin good, feelin good. Previous to this preventive maintenance, the car had a small coolant leak from the front of the motor... I suspected the water pump. The car also ran a little hot... right of center one line on the gauge, and the oil temp. (with synthetic) would climb to 220+. Now that all this "maintenance" is done, it still runs hot.

The oil has no signs of a head gasket weeping, the coolant is clearly pink, and the cooling fans are running.

Mind you, I live in Texas and its currently 106 out, but I still think its running hot.

I have not replaced the ccolant temp. sensor, which in my experience causes a gauge to read cold, erratic, not at all, but it is still a suspect. Also, I replaced the coolant reservoir, which had a lot of rusty residue in it... could this have reduced the effectiveness of the radiator?

Any ideas from you Audi gurus?

Thanks in advance...

At 106 degrees with the AC on, this does not seem abnormal.

Does the guage stay lower when the temp is cooler? Take it for a drive at 3 am when its only 80 out, and see what it does.

If it still runs hot, replace the sensor.

Not sure about the oil temp, that sounds a little higher than normal.

seems normal to me... might want to try 'water wetter' from redline.. supposed to cool engine temps by 20deg. or so... I'm about to fetch it tonight... being that we're hitting 100s here in NJ also

Mines left of the center line so it doesn't sound too bad. Though my service signal came on this morning, have to go in another 1000 miles.

Ok I was driving around looking at my oil temp.

at 106 outside, 220 does not seem like it would be out of range as well.

So, take her for a late night run when its cooler, and see what kind of temps you get. If all is back to normal, don't worry about it.

that seems normal 220 on a warm day crusing around is fine. the other day here in boston it was about 90 degs crusing down the highway for 1 hour at 80-90 mph moved my temp up to 240 deg. had to slow down at that point dont want to kill my engine
