P0605 - Slow start... ECM?
Hello everyone,
I originally took my car to a local mechanic, because my car has been having trouble starting (slow start, but sometimes starts right up). I also had a check engine light, which they identified as P0605.
The mechanic suspects my ECU/ECM needs to be replaced, but was unable to confirm the exact issue, and suggested I go to a local dealership directly.
So I took my car to an Audi dealership, who said they would charge $115 just to check the code. To replace the ECM would cost $1600 p/l, which seems absurdly high.
Can someone give me advice as to the next step I should take? I can find a used ECM with the exact same code as mine for $100, but I'm not even sure that's the issue. Am I at the mercy of my dealership to diagnose the problem?
I look forward to your replies.
Thanks!
