Default Paint

Has any had any issues with paint litterally peeling off like its not baked on properly? Original silver paint on my hood literally came off at the car wash!!! [:@] I purshased a 99 A4 last year from the dealer, and little things like that have me questioning the fit and finish. I dont want to repaint my whole car... ne ideas what to do to get the hood paint back without spending 100's of dollars?

I have never heard of this from a factory (Audi) paint job. Are you ablsolutly sure this car was never wreaked and repainted? I had a small fneder bender a few years back in my and the front clip had to be repainted. The place I had it done didn't do that great of a job and the clear is coming off around the moldings now. I have to have the front repainted now and I am not happy about it. But agian I have never ( in over 8 years of reading forums and talking to other owners) heard of this happening.

If you want to check for yourself on the history of the car get a carfax. "Never Follow" and "Never trust a dealer"

Its like a caused a layer to come off and now I have a sligher darker tone of gray underneath. That upsets me. Im not aware of any accidents that the veh was involved in... however the same layer of gray on the front hood is also present on the side fender. It looks like a rock chip caused that to happen. So, the undercoat of paint seems to be the same color overall. Thanks for your response. I'll take it somewhere to see what they can show me about this damage. A manual spray car wash (pressure sprayer) ripped the paint off the hood. So i assumed it was my goof from holding it to close trying to get bug & other black dots off. Nothing unusual.

Thanks again!

perect reason to upgrade your hood to carbonfiber. But yeh if you had the pressure was too close it can damage your paint
