Default Paint Woes

Hey guys, I know this belongs in the detailing forum but everytime I try to go into there it closes my firefox so I'll post it here, an admin can move it if you'd like. Anyway, my car is Casablanca white and there's these patches and fine little black scratches in certain areas on my paint. It almost looks like someone scrubbed it with steel wool or like a scotch brite pad. Anyway, I'd really like to get rid of them, I know that probably won't happen, but at least minimize their appearance. I see commercials for GS-27 but I'm very weary, seem much too good to be true, has anyone used it? I guess the only other thing i can use is something abrasive, like rubbing compound but that scares me a little so I'd like to ask you guys for advice first. Thanks in advance

Keith

You could always take it to a couple of decent body shops/detailing places and see if they would be able to buff the problem areas out, if a couple shops agree that it cant be repaired easily then chances are it'll need to be repainted.

Yea, I know that would be best, but unfortunately i don't have that money right now cuz I just bought the car. I guess I'll just have to go with the rubbing compound and see what happens. Anyone have this problem or have any suggestions?

yea, first try a buffing compound. that cant hurt. some companies make scratch removers, try those. and i havent used gs-27 but if its cheap and all the other methods dont work, then why not.

Does anyone have a particular product that they recommend? The paint on my other car was in better shape so all I needed was regular wax, I don't have much experience here.

Hey Sandman, are you a member over on ASOG or is that a different Sandman?

i would go to some body shops and ask them for estiments, a couple times i have gone to a body shop for an esti on buffering or removing a dent and they have takin it back and done it for free, it atleast worth a try.

I'll try the GS-27 hopefully it'll work. Otherwise I guess I'm gonna have to bite the bullet and go to the body shop.
