Painting grill and need help with suplies

ok well im going to de-crome my grill tomorrow and jsut need some help on what supplies that i need. i know i need sandpaper and paint my question is:
1. what grit sandpaper do i need? and is dry/wet sand recomended with this?
2. Paint. any good automotive paint will do? do i need to by clearcoat seperate or not ?

if i missed anything please feel free to add and thanks for the help

I used a 400 grit sand paper to prep the chrome lining. Wet sanding is always best. Also I recommend Dupli-color products. I used their plastic adhesion promoter (which is a good primer), then their Universal Black Auto Spray then finally the clear coat. My grill turned out perfect, just take your time and follow the directions on the back of the cans.

Havent done it, but make sure you get the adhesion primer if you want the paint job to last a reasonable amount of time. Id get whatever the finest sand paper you can find is.

the krylon fusion is great for plastic pieces (i wonder why)
