You don't need any of that stuff. The place local to me will scan and create the exact match, and then load it in aerosol cans for you. Sorry - should've said that. But yeah, almost all of the paint shops like that can do that for you. Then you can take it home and deblue the car. I haven't painted mine yet - I will be in the spring. No sense in doing it yet though - chances are snow/road debris will just chip it anyhow and I'd have to redo it. Plus it's too f*cking cold for the paint to be used properly now anyhow.

How much per can?

I'm not quite ready to give up. But, you're right, I'm not completely without options if it turns out I can't do it.

Well, I sprayed one light coat and it didn't look blue, but the second one started to so I sprayed a little bit on the newspaper and it was blue enough to turn my insides cold, but I THOUGHT it looked like it was fading to silver as it dried so I did one last coat on the car. Also, it's hard to tell how off a match is when there's two feet of newspaper between it and the original color. [&o]

Hey...isn't there a B5 Passat in that shade of blue?!

Edit: A lot like this one, in fact.

Not too thoroughly, but the dealer I usually go to said they don't sell paint in a spray can anyway...they only sell touch-up paint. And I think somebody on here said theirs didn't end up being a good match either.
