Part Number Information
I just bought my daughter a 2000, a4 1.8T. She likes it a lot, and wants to know how to fix things herself.
For the Porsche 964 that I have, there is a manual called the PET, that lists all of the part groups, and part numbers. It is available online, and at the dealers. Is there a similar parts manual for the Audi's?
Also, what is the best workshop manual for the cars, the one from Audi, or one of the third party manuals?
Thanks

I have the CD version of the Bently manual, and its just ok. I think the paper back book is easier to navigate through though and is probably worded better. If you want the ultimate, (and im not sure how you could attain it legally), find the software called ETKA. Its what the VW and AUDI dealers use in their parts/service departments. It has tonnnnns of diagrams, allpart #'s, estimated hours for labor, and litteraly itemizes every single part that your car consists of includingeach clamp.
I strongly suggest the paperback Benley manual. Pick it up at Amazon.com or ebay to get the cheapest price. Its fun to just sit an look through at times. Its a major help when trying to figure somthing out. I also have a copy AESIS - which is the program that audi uses at the shop(don't ask). Its very similar to the CD version that onepoint8tee is talking about but is more of a pain since you have to use a laptop or print out everything that you need to get the job done.
