On my adventure to find parts for a 1998 1.8T A4, i noticed that a lot of parts also fit the Jetta and such cars. is there a website, or a pdf etc that defines what year, and what other models some parts fit?

Also, whats a good way to find out what the PC in the car is outputting when doing inspec engine. i know that in an old Lancer Mitsubishi (a friend did it as a favor) plugged in a PC to the car pc, and found out which sensor was going bad. then zero'ed out the error to then find out again if it was the correct error. (which it was) i know my Power steering liquid (presure hose) is bad and liquid is STILL coming out! grr, but will the car actually know that? but in anycase, anyone maybe in the NYC area able to lend a hand in plugging in a PC to my car for a sec? or is there a device i can purchase thats NOT THAT expensive?

u mean VAG-COM?… it cost around $70 online, if u have laptop USB one might cost lil less… AUTOZONE will let u use one for free…

To do all the things you are talking about you will need the full verison of ross-techs program. autozone can just read and clear codes

1. buy a "real" ross-tech cable - $250- program views real cable and gives you full access to software.
2. buy a ebay cable $20 and pay $100 for the full verison of the old software.
