weight reduction is a non issue unless you are racing the car.... if you get a cf lid keep it cf don't paint. it is really cool lookin. see what you can snag from that insurance

Ahhh, that's why I've never had a claim on my policy and I STILL pay so much. Granted, the insurance company will try to screw you, by definition. If you claim is minor, you'll end up paying for it five times over in your premiums. If you do have your insurance company pay for it, make sure they agree to subrogate. If you can't get them to do that, pay for it yourself. It'll be cheaper in the long run.

Sorry, did somebody above suggest not painting a carbon TRUNK lid? Umm, that seems very, very wrong to me. Be sure to buy altezza's, and seat belt covers. Check seat belt covers for adequate padding. They are good for 8 horsepower, IF theres enough padding. Racing stripes are good for 11 horsepower, AND if you still have enough money left, do some decals, and graphics, 9 more hp. :P

Umm, I had a point... what was it... Oh yeah! Insurance. They are horrible, horrible people. My first car, was an 85 corvette. Was my baby. It caught on fire... burned to a crisp. I didnt have colission on the car, only comp. Insurance calls me, tells me they arent covering it... (well they left a msg telling me they werent covering it). I call them back, and he's like "yeah buddy, your SOL, the fire wasnt a result of a collission, so no dice!" As you can imagine, im about to tear this guys throat out... but managed to calmy explain, that I dont have colission anyways, I have comp, which is FIRE and theft (last time I checked)... so he puts me on hold for like 10 agonizing minutes... and comes back with a "my bad!" ... needless to say, I got my money... but yeah, collision coverage is not worth it for me, its over a grand a year just for the colision portion... and IF i actuall USE the coverage, my rates will go up by at least 1500 a year... so I figure, as clconversion said, accidents are usually under 2500 anyways. Too bad the general population is too dumb and lazy to do anything about this insurance scam.

PS: is there a better way to add pictures? I am computer illiterate.

Yeah, safe to say it was pretty scary... Could have been worse though, the car was about 15 seconds from being in my garage.

A transmission line blew, and leaked fluid on the exhaust, which, after some spirited driving, was rather hot. Was pretty nuts. I have a pic of my driveway, covered in tranny fluid, with my garden hose out... haha, firefighting 101: garden hoses are useless in extinguishing car fires.
