Hi
i have a 2003 a4 1.8t. When i was changing the oil i noticed a part missing between 2 hoses. On inspection the plastic had fallen apart. I thought it was a check valve so i put it in the line. Now i am not sure if that is the correct piece.

There is a large pipe and a small pipe that are connected to the large breather pipe on the valve cover.
The large pipe goes to the PCV valve, a black pancake looking valve.
The smaller pipe goes down and into the maize of piping under the manifold.
This pipe had a plastic part that fell apart and i do not know what it was there.
I cannot locate a photo in the archives nor any schematic that indicates what this device would be.
The third picture shows where the large and small lines connect. The smaller line goes down and and that is the line that did not have a part connected to it. I put in the check valve but think it is not correct.
I attached some pics maybe someone can enlighten me as to what goes there.

I checked every schematic on this site and could not find the correct one nor a correct picture. the haynes manual is not a help so hoping someone can steer me in the right direction.
