You can't. it's built into the unit. Pioneer has implemented that since the newer Avic came out and also will update the earlier models once you install the latest software update.

Thats the worst news ever. The whole point is to be able to watch videos while you go... is the same true for that new cheapy $1,000 unit dlip out they just came out with, cuz I wanted to get it...

Unfortunately, yes it applies to that unit possibly as well.. Pioneer is trying to make a statement, of course it has somewhat shot themselves in the foot by doing so, but they are also covering their butt from potential lawsuits.

There's still other brands Alpine, Eclipse, and Kenwood.. I would suggest alpine before any of the others.

HMMM what a pain!!!

Of course it doesn't help that I have PIONEER decals on my car, and I am too lazy to switch those to ALIPINE lol.

There has to be a way around that... I'm gonna call my audio place, but you are probably right.

A friend ran into this problem with his Saab. His audio shop figured out a way to convince the unit that the car was parked, and would thus allow him to play DVDs while driving. I realize it's a different animal, but I imagine there's a chance it could be applied to Audis...?

I think it was done using the emergency brake. He's on vacation at the moment, but if y'all would still be interested at the end of the week, I'd be happy to ask him how it's done...

Good luck, and take care...

Well 1st off the D1 doesn't play DVD's unless you are sending the signal from a different source. I do know of a way around this, but then your navigation will not work properly anymore because this block is tied into the speed sense.

djazz - The parking brake bypass applies to the older N1 model.

*Pioneer added this because they were already getting sued with the N1.
