Afterscanninga friends 02 Audi A4 1.8T for what codes he was throwing, it found CEL code's P0299 and P0172. Both of which seem to be related to a possible boost leak. The other day he got on it in a parking lot coming towards me and his car sounded like it had a boost leak. And after taking a look underneath I found that there was a coating of oil all over the charge hose coming off the turbo, as well as the hose running up to and including the recirc valve (lookat the pic). I just gave a quick feel over the charge piping and it all seemed to be intact. So could this coating of oil be caused by a cracka hose? Or is it coming from something else? Or is somebody knows whats going on with everything I have said here, I would be happy for you insight. Thanks

 

you might have small leak somewhere. There is oil inside these hoses, so its coming from one of the hoses.
just wipe it down, and tighten up all the clamps and see if it comes back, maybe you can isolate it better, or it will be fixed.
