Default Power drops @ 4500 and up

My '03 1.8t is chipped but has orgional DV, it has nice power up to about 4500 rpm and then it doesn't seem to acceleratemuch harder. Is this the norm or do I have some issues?

Thats the extent of the k03's turbo's efficiency. If you want to make more power than that you have to get a bigger turbo.

You still need an upgraded DV however.

My DV is in the mail....hope i notice a difference. Kinda dissapointed that their is not an easy solution to the lack of power in the upper rev range though.

Its not a hard fix, just an expensive one, you can get an eliminator turbo that bolts to your stock manifold and some decent tuning for around 3k, that would give you more power than you will need for a daily driver.
