Default The Power of Persuasion

Ok, I am looking at getting a 2000 or 2001 1.8T Q. I just recently converted from the japanese scene after falling in love with the look of the B5 A4 (also after totally fvcking up my 97 Civic, but that's beside the point). Because I just left that side of the spectrum all my friends are convincing me to get the Apex AVC-R boost controller and SAFC fuel computer. However, after reading up day and night on the GIAC and APR chips I am pretty sure I want to go with one of those two options. I would like a little help with which one of these two to choose? Any help would be greatly appreciated. The main reason I am straying away from the Apex products is because of all that I have heard about the reliability of chipping. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

apr's chip is smooth, i love the power...but i hear giac is more kick in your seat. both are comparable..if you want to go ko4, go w/ a giac chip, you get like a 200 $ discount on new ko4 software. tis up to you brah.

I am thinkin like something around 300hp and tq or so. I want something that will kick some *** but still be very reliable. I was just looking on APR's site and I like their stage III+ kit, eventually.

If you want something that is "very reliable" then Audi A4 probably isn't the way to go... Unless it's brand new! I'm going to guess that the general consensus here is that A4 would get "satisfactory" in terms of reliability. There's worse but there's also definitely better.

PS- Go GIAC leaves more possibilities for upgrades down the road.

GIAC and APR are both very reputable tuners. You can trust both of their products. For just basic chipping, most people just choose the company that has a tuner closest.

if you really believe youll go with apr stage 3 or 3+ eventually, then why go giac. but its true that giac runs with more setups. i have had the chance to drive a4's with both chips, and honestly prefer apr when ur talking about just a chip. if you think theres any doubt about eventually having an apr BT kit, you might as well get giac. ull be chip happy either way, but apr equals power throughout your gear, where giac will be more peaky, if you know what i mean. apr tunes your motor more, while giac act kind of like a boost controller by jacking the boost rates. i raced a b5 a4 sedan with giac, exhaust, and dv, when i had pretty much the same except apr. i definitly beat him consistently, but i think he might have gotten me on the highway. choice is yours, but i would push for apr and eventually 3+ kit. you will be happy as a clam. are clams really that happy? no, but seriously you'll be happy.

PES has a BT setup, and they use GIAC tuning, probablly get some kind of discount. I have also heard they are in the works of a gt28rs setup to instead of the gt28r
