Power Steering issue... did I just get ripped off?
I hope it's okay that I made this account to ask this question, but I have to know if this is normal.
I took my 2002 Audi A4 two a service shop two weeks ago because it was making noises. Upon inspection they determined it was an issue with the power steering pump and it would be $1200 to fix. The money was high, but I elected to go through with the repair. About ten days later it started making the EXACT same noise. No problem, I thought... it must be covered under warranty since it must be the same thing. They tell me that this time it's a power steering hose and it wouldn't fall in the same realm of the repair. Since it seemed too big a coincidence that this would happen so quickly after repairing it, I asked if it was related to the initial repair and they said, "Unfortunately it's not" and basically said it was a coincidence that it would happen so soon after. They charged me over $700 to fix it.
Now I'm $2,000 deep on repairs when I doubt I could even sell my car for $2,000 anymore. I'm just feeling really sad about it, because I now have a bunch of credit card debt to pay off, and have been working a bunch of overtime to try to pay it off. I feel like it's too big of a coincidence for the same thing to happen so soon one after the other and feel like they took me for a ride when the second repair should have been free.
