Default Power steering pump gone bad?

Hey and thanks in advance for reading this,

A few days ago I' ve noticed this weird noise coming from the front end of the engine every time I move the wheel when stoped or moving slowly. After reading the forums and getting some info I assumed it's the power steering pump. Checked level of PS fluid and it was low, so i bought a can of Pentosin 11s online and I'm waiting to get it on the mail.

My question is: The last miles that I drove the car the steering was still soft, although with the grinding noise. If the power steering still works does this mean the pump is ok or do I need to replace it if the sound continues after adding PS fluid?

Thanks again and any comments are more than apreciated,

your pump is fine, the noise is because of the low fluid level. driving with low fluid is not a good idea and should be kept to a minimum. just fill it up and you should be good to go. BUT, the fact that you have a leak somewhere in the system is another problem. get underneath and look for ps fluid leaking.
