Default POWER STTERING MAKEING NOISE

Hello everyone i have A4 1.8 no turbo. 07/95 and this is the problem i am expiriensing. When i turn wheels to any side the power steering pump start making horrable squiking noise, soinds like i am reversing on 5000rpm. The thing is, every time i change power steering oil it stops the noice for about 7000-8000 km. After that km noice comes back.

The audi garage tod me to change power steering pump - 1500€[X(]
Maybee someone have cheeper solution?

All pumps will make noise at the extreme of the turn as it puts a lot of pressure on the pump.

What power steering fluid was it replaced with? Did you use the correct Pentosin 11S or Febi or VW fluid? If you put other power steering fluid in there it will not work.

Are you leaking fluid?

VW green, Audi and Pentosin are all the same.

I change the stuff in my reservoir every 10K miles or so. Buy a small turkety baster at a dollar store and suck out what is in the reservoir and replace with fresh.
To drain the entire system you would have to disconnect the lines from the pump and let the fluid drain out.

There are Audi Dismantlers in the US (Shoksan and Dads auto) which specialize in Audi. Nothing wrong with used parts. After all the rest of the car is used. 1500 euro is way too much

+1 for the turkey baster. i just used it on my assumed original fluid. I took out the fluid in my revervior and filled it with new, and ran the engine for a mnute turning the wheel lock to lock a few times. I repeated this three times and the oil fluid is mostly out.

Right i just sucked all oil from the pump and put in very thin RED power steering oil. But it still makes noice on turns and any wheel activity. But a lot of noice! U think its a pump gone???
