Premium Unleaded or Regular unleaded?
I plan to have my '05 A4 for many many years to come. I was just wondering, it reccomends Premium but is it really needed? The person at the Audi dealership said it isn't needed unless i want to get more performance out of the car (reach max speed, etc). However, i don't want to harm the engine in ANY way and was wondering if putting regular in will decrease the life of the car?

if you have a 1.8t, the timing will be pulled greatly and you will kill performace and risk detination in the cylinders.

Yes i do have a 1.8t. Can you explain "timing will be pulled greatly". Is it something that can harm the car itself? And can you also explain risking "detination in the cylinders". If this happens is it very harmful to the car? And what are the chances that it would happen if i filled up with regular?

timing pulled means you cant advace timing (before top dead center) and will loss power. detination means that the spark plugs arent what ignites the a/f mixture in the cylenders. One kills power and other risk harm on the engine

I look at the fuel door and it reads "91 octane"
It's like looking at an electric fence that says not to climb it. Ignoring signs is usually a bad idea...
