Default problem with +2 rim size?

i have a 98 2.8 with quattro and currently have stock 205 55 r16. I am planning on going to 225 40 r18. i was told that the a4 was not designed for wheels over 16. i know that is load of crap but i just want to hear it from you guys. there should be no clearnace problemsor saftey problems going to an 18 correct?

you are correct. whoever told you that is an idiot. thousands of people drive a4's with 18's. and some people are ballin enough to have 19's.

They will probably be fine, as long as you don't have a ridiculously wide tire. Anything under 8 1/2" should be fine.
