When I am driving around 70 or 80 mph on the highway in 5th gear... If I accelerate and hold the car at a certain rpm my car will switch between 4th and 5th gears.. back and forth rapidly. This started after I chipped my car. Has this happened to anyone else?

 

yes this is somewhat normal for a chipped car, its called gear hunting

 

the best way to fix this is to sell your tip and buy a manual.[&:]

 

Are you using your tiptronic shifting or do you have it in drive? If you drive in "D" then use the trp shifting and that shouldnt go back and fourth I would assume. But you probably would have thought of that

happens to me in tip mode too.. also happens to brrman... not cool. so i downshift to fourth right when i know its about to happen so i still feel like i have conrtol over what is going on. I psyc myself out basicaly. I was chipped for about a year before it started happening. Just to sum it up:
In 5th on the highway (only speeds over 60mph) if i give it 1/4 throtle or more is automaticaly downshifts to 4th gear in tip mode, when it shouldnt. Does it in D mode for me too, when for the amount of throtle that is being used, it really shouldnt, it should hold the gear. Im used to it now and youll get used to it too... OR buy a manual.. Thats a good idea...
Some people in other forums complain about it too.. A tip chip does not cure it btw.
