Hi Guys,

I'm new to the board and am hoping someone can help. When I start my car, the transmission light is lit up for all gears: park,drive, neautral, reverse, etc. When I go from park to drive, the light does not move from park to drive.Everything isstill highlighted.My car drives but it doesn't shift gears. It must continually be in 3rd or 4th gear. Every once in a while, when I start the car, the car goes back to noraml operation where the light highlights wahtever gear I'm in. Any ideas what's going on? I hope I describes it well enough to understand. Thanks

 

You transmission is in limp mode. The only gears that will work are 4th and reverse. You will need to access a real vagcom to pull codes related to the transmission/transmission control unit, have them cleared and post them back here. Could be anything from a bad TCU, bad connector or internal problem with the transmission.
