Default Programming New Key fob, but only have 1 key

First off I did a search and found out how to programm one, but my problem is I only got 1 key when I bought my car and the key fob on it does not work. I tried new batteries with no results. I bought one off ebay(I know I accidentally bid on a used one instead of a new one so hopefully it works) that is the same as the one I have. Is there any way to programm my key fob with only 1 key or do i need to have another one cut? I will be getting a new one, but the closest Audi dealership is a good ways away to have a new one cut and it may be a few weeks before I can get one. Also how do I test to see if the system is functioning properly? thanks in advance

You'll need to have your second key cut to your car first. I don't know of any way to test the system without programing the keys first.

Try putting the key that works in the door lock. Lock and unlock the door a few times. Press lock and unlock on the fob. If it doesn't work start over. It may take three tries.
