pull out the ecu

Default pull out the ecu

i want to reset my ecu. how do i disconnect it?

It unplugs just like you would unplug a cable form lets say they back of your pc, x-box or playstation.

Its the little black box on the driverside. You need to pull the black cover off then you will see the little black box clear as day. It takes 4 10mm bolts (5th one is in back but there is another play to pull it out)and you can pull out the ECU and there is two plugs on the back. you unplug them and wait for awhile.

Why dont you just unplug the + battery terminal.

You dont need to do anything to reset it, besides removing the negative cable from the battery for a few minutes. This will reset the ECU (and your radio!)

Man this ecu reset thing is getting outta hand. I have never seen so many answers all over the place. Remive the ecu, remove the battery, remove the + terminal, remove the - terminal. Who is right?

I reset mine because of a cell that was caused by unpluging a sensor. I dont remember which one i unpluged it may have been the - all i know is the cell went away and has never come back.

its best reset with the proper tools like VAG but removing the neg on the battery will do as long as you have the radio codes, remember ( to unplug the ECU the neg on the battery has to be off anyway ) otherwise you could blow it
