Default purchasing parts from websites...

this weekend i cracked my oil pan when i hit a bump in the road going a bit too fast...shyte.

anyway, was quoted a little over $700 by my audi dealer to replace the thing:

$385 for the new oil pan

and

~$100 per hour for labor (3-4 hours)

i found the oil pan online for $180, but the labor is unavoidable as i am not even going to consider replacing the oil pan myself.

anyone wanna suggest the most reputable website for purchasing genuine audi parts?

Thanks in advance...

I just put new tires on...now i'm carless.

second from the bottom.

unless you have absolutly no mechanical abilitys this shouldn't be that hard of a fix. You never said what engine you have so this is the one for a 2.8 and as for getting it done somewere, I wouldn't think it should take them longer than an hour, so your not looking at to much money.

Changing the oil pan is not that easy on these cars, especially if you have quattro.

Find an independent Audi/VW mechanic rather than the dealer to do it. Labor will be less. My place charges 50 an hour.

replcacing the oil pan is definitely not easy, especially on the car i have...an '02 1.8t quattro.

i would rather pay someone else to do it to make sure it gets done right.

so, you guys are all saying there is nothing wrong with purchasing the part online?

also, david, where is this guy who does the work? i live in ny, and would drive a bit to pay only 50 an hour.

so, if i can buy the part online, that saves about 150, and if i can get 50 dollars for labor that's another 200 about. 800->400...not so bad.

thanks.
