Default Putting in new engine / Couple questions

I have a 98 A4 1.8t with a blown engine that I'm about to replace and have a few questions. Im going to replace the clutch pressure plate, disc, and t/o bearing with the kit found here http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...;rd=1&rd=1

Im also going to replace the timing belt, damper, water pump with the kit found here http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...;rd=1&rd=1

The guy thats putting in the engine said that he will need to replace some gaskets but the only one he knew of was for the exhaust.

Is there anything else I should replace? Any idea on where I can order the gaskets? First time changing engine any advice?

Also the engine I bought is from a 99 passat. Is that an issue? Do I need to have the ecu reprogrammed?

Sorry for all the questions but I've researched best I can and need some help.

Thanks

you know the passat came with 10 less hp than the a4. I think that is just a programing thing so that shouldnt effect you. I would replace cam seals and chain tensioner for the cams also. Other than that I would just a good look at all of the hoses while the engine is out and make sure non are bad. Just makes things easier

If its the same engine code everything should hook up the same without any modifications.

Got it from a reputable salvage yard for $1400, longblock, free shipping, 113k miles, 6 month warranty. That was the best I could find.

I bought the car with the engine blown but did not know what happened until I took the engine out last week and found a hole the size of a softball in the engine block. I prolly wont do much in the way of mods to the engine but a few little things to the body-debadge, clear corners ect.

keep all the reusable part on the old engine apart from the engine block, soft ball hole = con rod through the engine block and we all know what that's caused bypowwwweeeerrrr
