hmm we are in the A4 forum....and i said quattro...guess would be....Audi A4 quattro

I tihnk it might be ring and pinion issue.....appointment later.

i usually only hear fans on when im idling, under power i dont hear anything but the turbo spooling, and the diverter on shifting, no unusual quartto or mechanical noise. i think it may of been the car you were in.
