quattro newbie opinion
I will be purchasing a 07 A4 2.0T 6 speed manual and I am deciding between quattro and the FWD. I am mainly a BMW fanatic and this will be my fist ever audi so please excuse my ignorance.
I know that the quattro is legendary and it has so many rave reviews but the FWD drive sounds pretty good too. I also live in Sunny Southern California where I dont know if I will need the quattro all wheel drive, but it would be nice to go up to the mountains to snowboard without putting snow chains on. When i purchase the car, my father will be helping me to build my credit but only an A4 with all the basic options, So I will have to pay for the options. I am already getting an Audi NAV which I REALLY need. Also my pocket isnt that deep because i am still in college and I cant blow all my savings on a car. So Basically is my questions is the quattro option worth the extra $1400. I mean $1400 is a ton of money for a college kid and that could probably supply food for me for a couple months. Also how will the quattro affect my insurance vs. the FWD?
Need your humble opinions....
Thanks
P.S I will be chipping it with APR, if that info is relevant or useful.

If you're a BMW fan don't even bother with FWD. Quattro is great in all weather and its a LOT more enjoyable than FWD ever would be.
Also... why buy new if you're in college? Seriously, you don't want to be paying huge payments to a car when you're in college. A used 1.8t would suit you just fine.

i guarantee practilcally everyone on this site will tell you to go with quattro. its like night/day with it. o and get a certified pre-owned audi. basically the exact same thing as new only thousands less.
The security of being able to powerslide your car with one finger is def worth the 1400 plus resale value will kill you when you decide you wanna sell it. It will be worth way less and no one will want to buy it. Just buy like an 04-05 with 20 k miles QUATTRO and you"ll never regret it. Good Luck dude....
Thanks for all your input...
I have to get a new car because, my dad wont help me with the down payment if it is a used car even certified used. (sounds spoiled but that is just how my dad is with cars)
I am definately pretty much decided on quattro but how will the insurance look at it??
