ques. Shop claims chipping, but they are reprogramming
There is a shop i bought a Forge DV004 (I think)
seem ok but no big woosh sound, ne ways they say they can rechip my A4 for $550 CAD, when i asked them what is involved in it he said they alter my fuel maps, ignition timming and up my boost to 15psi.
I asked him if any hardware change out was involved, he told me no its all done on computer, no soldering.
My queastion is, is this worth the mod. Or should i go out and by an aftermarket chip like some of the ones i see here being advertised.
Also will this hurt my car in anyway, this is a daily driver and 15psi seems like alot.
Or should i opt out and buy a the k04 turbo??
Thanks

Would you say the $550 CAD is worth the flash? and is reliable, being this is their own map?
What would it normally cost to actually rechip the ecu with an aftermarket chip?

This is their software - not a "brandname"...? I'd be leary- the APR chip is flashprogrammed - no hardware - for that price and you'll get a noticable difference - really noticable !!! But "turbo-friendly" - few downsides - I have it on my daily use car and can't believe I waited a year to do it. Also, just IMO (and you would need a chip anyway), but this is a much better start than considering a bigger turbo - which would involve a number of other expensive mods. Go with APR (or GIAC) - you'll be happy!
This APR Chip, can i install it my self or is this something i should have an experienced tunner do? how much and where is a good place to order from?
