basically - you need a shop to do it - it cost me 50$ for the install and if for some reason someone (the dealer?) re-flashes your ECU then they'll reinstall the software. You also have a variety of programs to choose from - goto the web stites - goapr.com for APR and www.giacusa.com fir GIAC - they'll tell you what you need to know and help you locate a nearby dealer.

Getting the ecu flashed is actually preferred to getting a chip soldered in... exact same results, but nobody takes a soldering iron near your 1000 dollar ECU. Nothing to come loose, or malfunction down the road.

I know that your thinking if you pay 500 bucks for something, you'd like to be able to hold it in your hand... but you're going to wanna get past that.

Oh, and I think flashing is only available on 2000+ cars, I could be wrong though.
