Default Question about brake pad sensors

Finally its my turn to ask a question. I have had a spare set of front pads for awhile but have waited to replace them until the sensor indicates I need to do so. The brakes are startin to shudder but only when i brake at high speeds 80mph +. They are getting a bit squeaky but seem ok. Just how low do our pads have to get before the indicator says to replace them?

Although if your getting a shudder your rotors could be somewhat warped. might wana do pads and rotors when its time to switch!
