Question about tires
I have a question about tires. I have rims in the mail, for my B6. 18x8 HP Evo's
I have a set of 225/45/18's in my garage, that are pretty much unused.. I wanna know if I can run these... Or if any of you out there are, and how its been so far?
The guy I spoke with on the phone said: 225/40/18 is the recommended size for my car, and said I'll be gaining about a quarter inch in width or length... or some **** and its best I try out the tires before using them. Problem is, I only have two of that size tire in my garage and was gonna order the other two.. but now I wanna wait and make sure it wont "Rub" so I don't lose 240 dollars!
Please let me know! Thanks.

225/45/18 = 25.8" diameter
245/40/18 = 25.8" diameter (lots of people run this size)
235/40/18 = 25.4" diameter --> stock size -- YES this is the stock size... 225/40/18 is NOT the stock size for a B6. B6's run 235's, B5's use 225's.
You're talking about .4" increase in overall diameter, and only .2" increase in the sidewall... You can run 225/45/18 if you want. Kind of a crappy size, skinny and tall... but whatever, you can certainly do it without any issues. If you're tight for cash, then do it... and upgrade later. As long as the tires you are getting are brand new, and you can match them with equally new tires of the same make/model. Sucks having mis-matched tires.
