So, buy myself a B6 Audi 1.8T andabout 100 miles later the enginecraps out with only 55k on it. I'm going through all kinds of crap togetAudi or the dealership toreplace it.
But,in case theywon't. I'm curious on about how much thoseenginesrun, and about how much the labor is for thatstuff.

well that sucks but what happened is it sludge? timming belt break? good luck with everything, they should replace it since u jsut bought the car 100m before it broke. i think a new engine can cost at least 2-3g'.....i know that i have seen used engines go for as much as 1500. good luck

Going through a dealer, it can cost up to $10k to replace a motor with parts and labor.
Going through an independant mechanic, with a used motor, it will cost more like $5-7K. About $3k for the motor plus parts and another $2k for labor. It may be more depending on your area.

If you bought the car at a dealer, it should've come with a CPO (Certified Pre-Owned) warranty that is good for 6 years/100k total miles. If the cause of your engine failure is oil sludge, argue with the dealer & have them cover the engine under the CPO warranty. VAG issued a TSB for all 1.8t engines regardless of mileage, so if the dealer refuses to cover it under CPO, they should cover it under the oil sludge TSB.

why do people still buy 1.8t's? i dont get it. you'd think by now people would have learned from others mistakes.....unless you want to mod your car but honestly even a chipped and k04 1.8t a4 is slow (well maybe not slow but CERTIAINLY not fast). get a clue already!

Here we go again. Engine size is nothing. Im sure there are plenty of small 4cyl cars that would kick every one of your cars asses. Stop posting stupid **** in these threads. You are now on the same level as Kemp and Bob.

i agree, but they arent a4's or tt's and for that matter prolly not even a street legal 4 cylinder car...and if i got beat it would one hell of a good race.
anyway i was more commenting on the fact that people dont seem to be digesting that 1.8t are unreliable sludge machines. go ahead tell me im wrong and its all the fault of the owners....i mean look at the 2.8l, they fail just as often right...not.

Mike Hoods 700hp A4 would like to disagree. Plus there are tons of 300whp, 400whp, and more and more 500whp 1.8ts an the way. Hp and V8's arent for everyone. We all know your opinions, no need to post them in every threadand in a insulting manor.
