question on non-operational cruise....
Hello All, for my first post I'd like to ask about the cruise control in my '98 A4 2.8Q. It doesn't work..
I did some searching but came up dry, if anyone can give me some pointers on what to look at/for it would be great. It has 165k on it and I paid $5k for it, it's beat up on the outside...lots of chips, dings, scuffs, and a keying... but the interior is beautiful. It's a great second car for me. My main ride is my '02 WRX, but I love to just cruise in the A4, and it'd be a lot better if I had cruise control. I'm a noob when it comes to Audi/VW, I'm a Saab veteran, so go easy on me.
Thanks in advance,
joe

usually its the connectors in the steering colum, dust gets in them and it stops working. i really dont know how to do it but im sure a few people on here know how to, and also welcome to the forums.
the switches go bad on our cars, it's very common...buy some electrical contact cleaner from radio shack...sometimes all you have to do is spray it into the steering column towards the switch, but if it hasn't worked for a while you'll probably need to remove it to clean it more thoroughly
